First fully dedicated to the cocoa culture, the brand-new program will consider three cultures namely Cocoa, coton & Maiz which are cultures Bayer want to focus on as mentioned during the Go-to-Market 2023 for the good of the business and the SHF.
« MOAYE » means happiness in Baoule language (a local ethnic group). Since 2014, the program intends to bring a fresh gust of wind to the cocoa value chain sustainability. Through this program, BAYER aims to contribute to improving farmers living conditions and food security. It has been created because of the consumer and SHF needs:
- Continuous forecast of world cocoa demand and the need for a cleaner cocoa
- Increased productivity, necessary for food security
- Lack of knowledge regarding the phytosanitary good practices and empty bottle management
- Lack of culture diversifications by the producers
In response to these concerns, which affect producers, consumers, and the environment, BAYER has integrated Bayer Reward into the MOAYE program, a digital tool that tracks products from the moment they leave the warehouse to the plantation where they are applied. This innovation enables better management of empty packaging.
The MOAYE program fills six Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
- No poverty: it diversifies the revenue source of producers by touching several crops and allowing the production of crops quality.
- Zero hunger: the MOAYE program aims to increase by 40% the production over the next five years.
- Good health and well-being by reducing risks related to the usage of phytosanitary products
- Gender equity: MOAYE program plan to increase the revenue by women empowerment
- Climate action by collecting empty containers
- Life on land by reducing the environment impact of our products to protect cultures and wildlives.
