WCA Crop Science

World-Class Solutions for Africa

After decades of food dependency, many West Central African countries have been prioritizing efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency by the year 2030.

The main Crops grown in Western Africa are:

  • Cocoa
  • Cotton
  • Rice
  • Corn
  • Cassava roots (Manioc)
  • Millet
  • Sorghum
  • Palm Oil
  • Hevea (Rubber tree)
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables crops.

The production level of these crops remains significantly below its potential since it still relies on rudimentary techniques.

Over the coming years, increased productivity will go a long way in ensuring food security for the region.
