2023 - Present: A New Chapter
2023
In April 2023, Bayer establishes the Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation. Its aim is to sharpen the culture of remembrance within the company and support independent research projects on the unjust regime during the Nazi era - in particular on the subject of forced labor at IG Farben. The Foundation’s goal is to strengthen the resistance against intolerance, totalitarianism and hatred.
At the end of May, CEO Werner Baumann retires after 35 years of service. As of June 1, he is succeeded by American citizen Bill Anderson, who joins the company as a member of the Board of Management in April. “He is the ideal candidate to lead Bayer together with the team into a new, successful chapter,” says Supervisory Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Norbert Winkeljohann.
In September 2023, Bayer starts introducing the new operating model “Dynamic Shared Ownership”. The aim is to deliver faster innovation and consistently focus on farmers, patients and consumers. The company is ending traditional hierarchies and putting more power in the hands of employees on the ground.
