Supporting Promising Young Athletes

Sport, games and exercise are an important cornerstone in the personal development of young people. Bayer firmly believes in fostering up-and-coming athletes and wants to encourage young people to engage in sports throughout their lives.

Thanks to Bayer´s support,
young athletes have the
opportunity to concentrate
on developing their sporting
talents to their full potential.

Thanks to the wide range of opportunities provided by the Bayer sports clubs, we are able to support children and young people in developing their sporting talents – from leisure and grassroots sport, right through to competitive and high-performance levels.
Through appropriate development programs, talented children and young adults are supported and guided to reach national and international levels.

As a result, many former talented youngsters have gone on to win numerous championships and Olympic medals as competitive athletes. These successes are based on exemplary support for young athletes, which focuses on educational and vocational development of young athletes alongside their sports training.

Bayer Supports Tomorrow's Sporting Stars

The Bayer clubs offer talented youngsters the ideal training conditions, including the best infrastructure at Bayer’s sports facilities, qualified training staff and the interdisciplinary work approach. With the elite schools of sport and football, sports boarding and day schools and children’s sports schools, Bayer is also specifically fostering models that offer talented young sports stars a practical way to combine competitive sport with education and vocational training.

"Elite Sports and Soccer School"

The Landrat-Lucas-Gymnasium high school in Leverkusen was recognized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation in 2002 as one of Germany’s 38 elite schools of sport. Through close cooperation between the school and TSV 04 Bayer Leverkusen, young talents are developed through a targeted program. The Leverkusen talent program is considered to be one of the most successful in Germany. In November 2008, the German Football Association (DFB) awarded the high school the title “Elite School of Football” for its collaboration with TSV Bayer 04 and Bayer 04 Fußball GmbH. TSV Bayer Dormagen works in a similar form with Norbert Gymnasium Knechtsteden high school.

Sporting, Educational and Personal Development Combined

Bayer 04's Kurtekotten youth soccer center boasts the DFB's highest certification rating of 3 stars plus and is the number one training facility for tomorrow's soccer stars. Every year since 1992, up to 15 talented young men and women in Bayer AG's athletes' class have been given the opportunity to combine their sporting career with commercial training.

Many of today's sports stars benefited from this combined focus on sporting, educational and personal development and went on to become successful international elite athletes.

The efforts made by “Bayer” sports clubs to foster young talent have now won the “Green band for displaying exemplary commitment to promoting young talented individuals” on more than 25 occasions. This honor is bestowed by the German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) and Commerzbank.
