Affirming Its Business Commitment in Indonesia, Bayer Successfully Reaches an Export Value of IDR3.9 Trillion
- Bayer released its 3,000th container with a total value of IDR3.9 trillion.
- 80% of Bayer’s production in Cimanggis is exported to 32 countries around the world.
- Bayer is a certified institution to conduct mechatronic vocational training with German standard in Indonesia.
Jakarta, 27 March 2019 – PT Bayer Indonesia today inaugurated its 3,000th container released to be exported to Europe. Over the past few years, Bayer has been exported various healthcare products from its plant located in Cimanggis, Depok with a total valued of IDR3.9 trillion. Present to witness the 3,000th container release were Minister of Industry Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto; Deputy Minister for Creative Economy, Entrepreneurship, and Cooperative & SMEs Competitiveness at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin Ramto; Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceuticals and Textile at the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Indonesia, Peter Schoof; Senior Bayer Representative of ASEAN, Ernst Coppens, and President Director of Bayer Indonesia, Angel Michael Evangelista.
“Bayer Indonesia has always been committed to take part in Indonesia's economic development. The steps we are taking are in line with the government's efforts to reduce the current account deficit. We are producing health products in our Cimanggis factory in Depok. 80% of the total production of the factory has been exported to more than 32 countries around the world,” said President Director of Bayer Indonesia, Angel Michael Evangelista.
Senior Bayer Representative of ASEAN, Ernst Coppens added, “Bayer has invested EUR100 million (IDR1.6 trillion) to build Cimanggis factory with modern facility and now the factory can produce health care products with world quality standards. Bayer’s health care factory in Cimanggis is the only Bayer’s health care factory in ASEAN and the biggest factory with significant export value in Asia Pacific. It is also one of 12 Bayer production centers throughout the world.”
In addition to the factory in Cimanggis, Bayer Indonesia also operates two other factories which produces agro-chemicals; Surabaya factory with as much as 30% of the production is exported to 10 countries and one more factory in Tangerang that exports 35% of its total production to four countries.
The high demand of health products in the world market requires competent human capital. “We support the government's agenda in developing human capital. Today 14 Bayer employees received certification as mechatronic vocation education coaches from EKONID, the official certification body representing the German KADIN (DIHK). Therefore, Bayer has become a certified institution in Indonesia to conduct mechatronic vocational training with German standard,” Evangelista explained.
A total of 15 SMK 56 students in North Jakarta attended mechatronic training at the Bayer factory in Cimanggis, Depok. This training lasts for three years with a composition of 35% theory in school and 65% practice in Bayer’s factory.
