Bayer in Ghana

Ghana Landmark

The word ‘Ghana’ means ‘Warrior King’ in Mande (a language spoken all over Western Africa). There is only one natural lake in Ghana – Lake Bosumtwe – a meteorite impact crater formed over a million years ago. Maybe to make up for their lack of natural lakes, Ghana is home to the world’s biggest man-made lake. Lake Volta – which is over 320 miles across!

In 2002, Bayer acquired Aventis Crop Science in Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon before divesting its operations in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.

In 2005, Ghana became the representative office of Bayer Morocco before Côte d'Ivoire took over in 2014 and the office became part of the WCA (West Central Africa) region in 2015 which is now part of Sub-Saharan Africa.
