Diversity in Every Bite
Did you know that good nutrition looks different for different people in every corner of the world? Cultures, flavor preferences, price and food availability are all important factors that go into people’s decisions about what to eat.
But regardless of your location, eating a diverse, nutrient-rich diet full of a variety of tastes and colors can be one thing you can do to help your body grow and thrive.
Earlier this year, Bayer launched an ambitious campaign to promote this practice, centered around a series of lively, animated video shorts, entitled "A World of Flavors - Discover Diversity in Every Bite." This initiative spotlights the importance of eating a diverse and colorful diet and aims to inspire individuals worldwide to enrich their diets with a variety of fruits and vegetables by eating different colors across the rainbow.
What sets this series apart from other nutrition outreach programs is its focus on healthy eating based on a foundation of cultural heritage and locally available fruits and vegetables. With characters representing nationalities from around the globe, the series offers viewers an opportunity to explore and celebrate the vast array of tastes and traditions that our world has to offer: for example, acar, a popular pickle dish in southeast Asia made with hot peppers, cabbage, and cucumbers, and pozole, a hearty Mexican stew made from hominy and meat and topped with lime and crunchy vegetables like radishes and shredded cabbage.
“A World of Flavors” is part of Bayer’s flagship Nutrient Gap Initiative, which seeks to expand access and consumption of essential vitamins and minerals through nutrient-dense food and supplementation in underserved communities. The series was designed and produced in collaboration with @Tessa Nguyen, MED, RD, an internationally acclaimed chef, registered dietitian, and educator.
As Bayer looks to the future, the company is excited to explore new avenues to further its mission Health for All, Hunger for None. By advocating for the inclusion of colorful fruits and vegetables in our daily meals, Bayer is not just encouraging improved nutritional intake but also promoting a deeper appreciation for the cultural richness that food embodies.
We invite everyone to join in this nutritious journey, making every bite a stride towards a more diverse, healthful, and inclusive future.
