Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue emphasized that: “Strokes are one of the biggest threats to public health in Vietnam, with 200,000 new cases each year, half of which are fatal. Those who survive a stroke still have to live with ongoing disabilities that may leave them unable to work, with their families and society often left to pick up the pieces. Therefore, it is crucial to raise awareness among patients and the community and educate each individual to proactively participate in stroke prevention and treatment.”

The “Stroke” portal is directly linked to the VAMS website, providing people with accurate, objective, useful, practical and easy-to-understand knowledge about strokes, including causes, symptoms, treatment and recommendations on prevention such as lifestyle changes and treatment compliance. The forum section enables the public to share, connect and listen to stories of stroke patients and caregivers; as well as connect them with leading doctors online, to seek advice from healthcare experts.

MD. MBA Tran Thi Lan Huong, Medical Director of the Pharmaceutical Divison, Bayer Vietnam shared the meaning of the digital multi-platform about stroke

“Bayer has made significant achievements for patients in cardiovascular disease management, but we recognize there is still a lot of work to be done to address the growing burden of strokes in Vietnam. We believe that cooperation plays an important role and that is why Bayer is honored to be partnering the VAMS to implement the “Stroke” digital multi-platform project,” said MD. MBA Tran Thi Lan Huong, Medical Director of the Pharmaceutical Division, Bayer Vietnam. “The active participation of patients and their families in stroke prevention and treatment is a key factor in improving patient and treatment outcomes around the world, as well as in Vietnam. With digitalization penetrating and transforming Vietnam's healthcare system quickly and dynamically, “Stroke” will make a practical contribution to the quality of counseling between health workers and patients and help to connect healthcare personnel to the community.”

In addition to the  “Stroke” portal, which can be accessed at dotquy.kcb.vn, the VAMS has also created a Facebook page (“Phòng chống Đột quỵ”) and a Youtube channel (“Phòng chống Đột quỵ”) to further amplify and spread information about stroke prevention within the community.
