Producing More while Using Less
Bayer has made bold commitments to sustainable agriculture to drive impact around some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
At Bayer, we’re focusing our efforts on where we can make the largest impact. We know that innovation is the key to the future of farming, and we are already seeing how new technologies — including digital farming, precision agriculture, and plant breeding tools — are lessening agriculture’s ecological footprint.
As a leader in agriculture, we have the opportunity — and responsibility — to address the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, resource limitations, and food security. That’s why we’ve made sustainability a core part of our business strategy and our Crop Science division has committed to major, measurable targets to help create a better world for both people and our planet.
We chose to focus on these areas not only because urgent action is necessary, which it is. But also, because these areas are where we’re uniquely positioned with our innovation capabilities and global reach to truly make a difference while continuing to create value for farmers.
At the heart of these commitments is our belief that every investment in innovation should also be an investment in sustainability. And these commitments are designed to support the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and are reinforced by a business model that will apply the same rigor to our transparently measured sustainability targets as our financial targets. After all, our long-term success lies in providing farmers with the tools and solutions they need to grow enough food while continuing to adopt sustainable practices that have less impact on the environment.
As we take this journey, we welcome you to check back on the progress we’re making and explore the collaborations and innovations that will get us there.
