Calgary, AB (September 11, 2024) – The Canadian Crop Science division of Bayer today declared its commercial operating model – announced earlier in 2024 – is now in full effect. The new model will empower teams to help farmers maximize their success by focusing on innovation and quick, local decision-making. It also augments how Bayer connects with its partners to co-create the best solutions for the marketplace. As a result of the changes, Bayer repurposed resources so that teams now have 13 per cent more time for customer-facing activities.
“At Bayer, we’re laser focused on helping farmers succeed,” said Antoine Bernet, Country Division Head for Crop Science Canada. “Our new way of working allows us to adapt, be more responsive and provide the tools farmers need to overcome challenges, while capitalizing on opportunities to increase yield and maximize profits.”
Operating in ‘Squads,’ these cross-functional teams now have greater autonomy to understand the unique challenges of each region and provide customized solutions. Squads are grouped into five regional Units and supported by Communities, such as Partners and Strategic Accounts, Marketing, and Market Development.
As part of the transformation, Bayer appointed five Unit Leads and a Partner Strategy Lead who kicked off their new way of working this summer:
Unit A (Alberta/B.C.): Arvel Lawson
Unit B (Northern Saskatchewan): Kyle Gross
Unit C (South Saskatchewan): Kelsey Uggerslev
Unit D (Manitoba): Neals Johnson
Unit E (Eastern Canada): Matt Eves
Partner Strategy: Gary Lannin
These leaders join Antoine Bernet and other senior leaders to form the new Canadian Crop Science Leadership Team
Bayer is committed to maintaining the highest level of transparency as the organization evolves under its new operating model and will continue to prioritize customers and partners. Through a robust portfolio of seeds and traits, combined with industry leading crop protection tools and digital technology, Bayer helps farmers grow more with less – no matter the challenges that stand in their way.
