Bayer Hawaii Welcomes and Supports Veterans and Their Families

Hiring our Heroes: Hawaii GROW Job Fair

Each year on the anniversary of the end of World War I – November 11 – we pause to observe Veterans Day and honor and celebrate those who’ve served in the US military. In Hawaii, 9.5% of our adult population has served in the military.

At Bayer, we pride ourselves on being a place where all are welcome and can grow their professional careers. We work diligently to foster diversity and inclusion, and actively recruit veterans and their families to join us in supporting our mission of Health for All, Hunger for None.

Last month, Bayer joined other local employers on Oahu for the Hiring our Heroes: Hawaii GROW Job Fair. This event connected those in the military, veterans and their spouses with employers and provided an opportunity to meet, network and even interview on the spot.

“As a military spouse myself, I know how difficult job hunting can be,” explains Jennifer Richie, Quality and Compliance Specialist at Bayer who attended the event. “It was exciting for me to represent Bayer and share stories with other military spouses, active duty service members and veterans. I’m proud to work for a company that’s supportive of veterans and their families.”

In addition to actively recruiting among the military community, Bayer also offers resources to support veterans and to ease their transitions out of and back into service. Some of these resources include:

  • Transition Action Timeline. This helpful planning tool guides service members through the steps of transitioning from military service to working a civilian job on an 18-month timeline.
  • Military Benefits. Bayer offers a suite of benefits to military members and veterans during approved leaves.
  • BRAVE Business Resource Group. BRAVE’s goal is Honoring and Serving Military Members and Veterans while helping them build and expand their professional networks.

“At Bayer, I’ve always been gratified with the respect and appreciation shown towards its Military Veteran employees,” shares James Waldron, who served in the U.S. Navy and is the Production Lead at Bayer Molokai. “The BRAVE Business Resource Group offers a chance for Veteran employees to support current service members as well as Veterans who may be struggling and a chance for comradery and friendship.”
