We say YES – to «Marriage for All»

The Swiss electorate will vote on «Marriage for all» on 26 September. The Federal Council and Parliament recommend a clear YES to marriage for all and Bayer Switzerland also supports the «YES for all» campaign.

Switzerland is one of the last Western European countries in which homosexual couples are denied civil marriage and thus denied important rights. Homosexuality and bisexuality are widely recognised in Switzerland. Nevertheless, same-sex loving people are not legally equal in our country because they cannot marry. Same-sex couples and their children are less well protected by law, despite the fact that the Federal Constitution guarantees the right to marriage and family and prohibits any discrimination based on lifestyle. With marriage for all, this elementary discrimination will finally be eliminated and all couples will be treated equally.

«YES for all»
Bayer Switzerland is supporting the «YES for all» campaign. In doing so, we want to make a contribution to an inclusive Switzerland and show that «Marriage for all» is not a minority concern but a basic attitude of society and the economy: for equal duties, for equal rights. The campaign is intended to send a clear signal internationally: For an open, liberal Switzerland. For a country that is a liveable place to live and work. For equal treatment and inclusion.

A clear «YES for all» is needed
Switzerland will be in the international spotlight on 26 September. With a «No» to the «Marriage for All» proposal, or a very narrow «YES» , Switzerland would reinforce its reputation as a conservative country where quality of life and equal rights are not available to all. Without a clear YES, Switzerland will lose its appeal as an attractive place to live and do business. With a clear «YES for all», Switzerland sends a clear signal as a modern, open country.

Equal rights. YES for all.
Diversity is Swiss and diversity and equal opportunities contribute to a successful Switzerland. This is also how we live at Bayer, and this is what our Swiss I&D Council with the employee network groups Blend, Enable, Grow and Family Connections is committed to.

Equal rights for all. A matter of course for us.
