Marina Hong
Senior Vice President, Head of Human Resources U.S.
Marina Hong is the Senior Vice President Human Resources for US, responsible for more than 20,000 employees in the Crop Science, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health divisions. She joined Bayer on February 1, 2021, as Vice President Human Resources, Pharmaceuticals Americas and was instrumental in the HR support for key product launch plans and driving business impacts through people and culture. She is an international HR executive with expertise that spans across the Americas, Europe and Asia where she started her career more than 25 years ago. Uniquely positioned in her global business experiences in various industries, including medical devices, industrial gases, banking and services, professional consulting and chemical. In her current role, she serves as the market strategic HR Head for US and North America, while leading a team of VP HR supporting the divisions, and all corporate HR functions including HR shared services.
Marina joined Bayer from Becton Dickinson, a global medical technology company focused on the technologies that enable medical research and clinical laboratories. She most recently led HR globally for the Integrated Diagnostics Solutions business unit with HR responsibility for more than 7,000 associates. She led the herculean efforts to accelerate the people and capabilities on the creation and Emergency Utilization Authorization of the Covid-19 BD test kits (both molecular and rapid). During her more than seven years with the company, Marina held roles of increasing responsibility in multiple business units in the U.S. and Asia. Her leadership spanned almost every discipline in HR, including developing people strategies, driving inclusion and diversity, supporting acquisition and integration, organization design and development and driving HR Innovation.
Prior to Becton Dickinson, Marina spent nine years with the Linde Group, a leading industrial gas and engineering company headquartered in Germany. She held leadership roles in South and East Asia and in Germany. Her roles included serving as the Global HR Partner for the Merchant & Packaged gas unit, HR regional leader, and several roles in compensation and benefits.
Marina earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with focus on Human Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin and a graduate diploma in Personnel Management from Singapore Institute of Management. Marina is fluent in several languages and has given her time to serve organizations focused on coaching and leadership, training and economic development.
Marina lives with her husband and family in New Jersey where she enjoys hiking, traveling and cooking different cuisines.
