At Bayer, we are passionate in our mission to solve the world’s unmet urgent health and nutrition needs, which is particularly prominent among our country’s underrepresented populations. We believe the key to breakthrough innovation is bringing together unique perspectives which is why we’re committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture for all employees.
Through science-based innovation, we bring diverse voices together to make our mission Health for all, Hunger for none a reality for generations to come. DE&I—Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is the foundation for this vision. Through DE&I, we are working to identify ways our scale and reach across agricultural, pharma and consumer health can eliminate barriers to ensure equitable access for all. DE&I is integral to our decision making and foundational to our success.
Recognized as a Top Workplace for Diversity
We are proud to be recognized for our efforts toward developing a workplace that better represents the world around us. Bayer has been recognized by Newsweek as one of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity” in 2024 for the second consecutive year.
Since 2018, Bayer has earned a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
Bayer has been awarded and recognized by The Disability Equality Index (DEI) as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion” since 2019. Additionally, since 2021, Bayer has received a top score of 100% in the DEI, which is the most comprehensive disability inclusion tool designed and embraced by both business leaders and disability advocates across the country. The DEI was launched in 2015 by Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in business.
We are proud that Bayer was designated as a 2024 Military Friendly Employer®, a resource that tens of thousands of transitioning veterans turn to as they seek employment.
The Elements of DE&I
Diversity: Our Unique Identities Collection of similarities and differences that we each have based on innate individual characteristics, lived experiences, and learned customs, traditions, and other cultural influences.
Equity: Fairness and Justice Eliminating barriers so that people are treated based on their unique needs, circumstances and with consideration of historical and systemic inequities. It ensures that everyone has access to the same opportunities and requires consistent enhancement and re-evaluation of policies, practices, attitudes, and cultural messages to create and reinforce fair outcomes.
Inclusion: All Feel Valued and Welcome Intentional and continuous efforts to create an accessible environment where people feel they belong and are enabled to be the best version of themselves, because their uniqueness is valued, talent recognized, and voices heard. |
Around the world, we are working to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Our Partners
In the U.S., Bayer partners with leading organizations to attract diverse talent such as MANRRs, Out and Equal, oStem, and LAGRANT Foundation and supports Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) such as Tennessee State University, so that our workplace more closely mirrors the communities we serve.
The Health Equity Collaboratory Series was born out of Bayer’s commitment to improve lives in the communities in which we and our customers live and work. In the first installment, Advancing Heart Health in the Community, we offer a closer look at barriers to cardiovascular health from the perspectives of those directly and disproportionately affected—communities of Black or African descent. For more installments, including the second session Advancing Access to Nutritious Foods, follow us on LinkedIn.
In coordination with BayAfro, Bayer’s resource group for employees of Black or African descent, we are proud to support the CDC Foundation’s “Live to the Beat” campaign as a co-sponsor. "Live to the Beat" aims to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease among Black adults ages 35–54 with a focus on moving more, eating better, quitting smoking, and addressing key risk factors like hypertension, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar.
Through Bayer Fund, the philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S., we awarded more than $12.1 million to over 2,300 charitable and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in Food and Nutrition, STEM Education and Health & Wellness. Since 2017, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received nearly $90 million from Bayer Fund; here are a few examples:
- Through America's Farmers community outreach programs, Bayer Fund has awarded nearly $70 million to help strengthen rural communities through ag scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations
- Bayer Fund has awarded nearly $40M to nonprofit organizations in the areas of food and nutrition, STEM education and health and wellness projects through America's Farmers Grow Communities program
- As part of Bayer’s sponsorship with the National FFA Foundation, through our Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship program, Bayer Fund has awarded nearly $5M to more than 3,000 students pursuing ag related fields of study since 2014

As part of our ongoing partnership with Direct Relief, we are funding the Community Health Awards, an initiative to provide awards to programs that break down barriers to reproductive health services in underserved communities. This work increases family planning education, patient outreach, and other services.
Explore Business Resource Groups
We strive to cultivate an inclusive workplace where everyone can be their authentic selves every day and thrive. Our nine Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are a vital part of our DE&I strategy and provide a multidimensional lens that helps us better engage with our customers and the communities we serve.
