Mr. Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, Director General Department of Agriculture, recently visited Bayer Good Seed and Plant Practices (GSPP) site located in Sakon Nakhon province.
Bayer management team led by Mr. Weraphon Charoenpanit, Country Commercial Lead Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar, welcomed Mr.Rapibhat and the delegation from Department of Agriculture at the Bayer GSPP site.
This field visit organized following the APEC High-Level Policy Dialogue on Agricultural Biotechnology (HLPDAB) which focuses on driving the use of high-level agricultural biotechnology with safe crop production technology to achieve food security goals in 2030. The Department of Agriculture has implemented “market demand- and supply-oriented research and production-focused research policy and uses advanced bio- and biotechnology to produce high-quality seeds so that farmers can obtain a proper crop price. This is in line with the statement made in the Asian Seed Congress 2022 that Thailand has set its goal to become “The World Leader of Tropical Seed” with a strategy to drive cooperation between the public and private sectors to strengthen the community and support sustainable growth of the seed industry.
Bayer representatives from Bayer Good Seed and Plant Practices (GSPP) site presented an overview of the high-quality seed production. This site is a production and learning center for producing high quality vegetable seeds according to the standards of the Good Seed and Plant Practices (GSPP) system.
