Bayer has many responsibilities - one of which is to generate benefits for the communities in which we operate.
With our core business, we have a major impact on societal development. At the same time, we depend on intact social framework conditions and an innovation-friendly business environment. For us, it is therefore important to contribute to society’s future viability and create value in diverse ways. Within the scope of our social commitment, we thus make targeted strategic investments in the areas of science and education, health, social needs and community projects. This commitment is an integral element of Bayer’s corporate policy.
Key highlights projects:
Better Science For Better Life” project (2017 - Present)
Bayer Thai, in collaboration with National Science Museum (NSM) initiated a “Better Science For Better Life” project aiming to promote science learning to students nationwide. In collaboration with National Science Museum, the Better Science For Better Life toolkits were produced and distributed to the schools. Bayer also joined NSM’s science caravan to demonstrate how toolkits can help inspire and motivate students to undertake science experiment rather than just learning by the book. The toolkit, consisting of key equipment using in the science laboratory, also provided the teachers on necessary techniques that enable students to learn science in more interactive approach.
Bayer Thai joined “120th Anniversary Saint Louis Mini Marathon 2018” (2018)
Bayer Thai joined the ‘120th Anniversary Saint Louis Mini Marathon 2018’ organized by Saint Louis Hospital located in Sathorn area in Bangkok. Bayer Thai has its strong presence on Sathorn Community, one of Bangkok’s prime business areas. Strengthening our partnership and network in and around the living community to promote “Health and Wellbeing” are in line with Bayer’s values, and to leverage Bayer brand as well. By sponsorship support to the Saint Louis Mini Marathon is not just an attempt to create awareness about “good health”, but also about the importance of “fitness through the simple act of running”.
Around 80 Bayer staff along with their accompanying family, friends and guests participated in both short and long distance run (3.6 km and 8 km). It was a family-friendly event that the participants were fully committed for a healthier lifestyle.
This activity is also one of key projects reinforcing our effort to support the sport activities in the communities surrounding its sites in order to help its employees make constructive use of their time.
Bayer Supports schools in Bangpoo Community.
As a part of our commitment to generate benefits for the communities in which we operate, Bayer Thai has continued to provide support to improve the health care and better social living conditions in communities surrounding our facilities, located in Bangpoo Industrial Estate, Samutprakarn province.
First Aid Room for School (2017)
Bayer Thai donated a first aid room to Ban Tong Kung School in Bangpoo, Samutprakarn along with Bangpoo site volunteers initiated the scientific game which made use of everyday materials for more than 100 students.
Science For Smiling Kids (2016)
Bayer Thai organized the “Science For Smiling Kids” event for schools where are located in Samutprakarn. This event aimed to leverage the company’s core competence in science to enhance education in that subject. And Bayer Thai volunteers also renovated the library and the science room at one of the schools.
Bayer Volunteering Program in Thailand (2017 – Present)
Special commitments require resources. That is why the Bayer Cares Foundation supports volunteers from the Bayer Group and the area surrounding its sites with grants for projects around the world. Since 2017 Bayer Thai has been granted to undertake the meaningful projects in Thailand with sustainable innovative approaches that can be used as a model for future projects.
Role Model 2017: “Color of LIFE Project” - The project is the collaboration between Bayer Thai, Duang Prateep Foundation, Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, and community committees in order to improve and bring color to the playground of the Klong Tuey community with the psychological effects of Colors concept ‘Change color, Change feeling, Change Attitude, Change LIFE’.
Role Model 2016: “Bridging Business to Community Project” - The project is the collaboration between Bayer Thai and Habitat for Humanity Thailand in order to build “Vegetable Greenhouse”, at Watratniyom School in Ayutthaya province, with the purpose of enriching feeding nutrition and selling exceeding products for local people.
Bayer supports educational material at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital (2015)
The Country Manager of Bayer Environment Science, Piya Pisalnoradej, presented the apartment model to support the education on how to conduct effective cockroach control and contribute to reduce the allergy problem causing by cockroach of patients to Associate Professor Soranit Siltharm, M.D, Ph.D, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital to educate the medical students of Department of Parasitology at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, in Bangkok.
Bayer Donates a First Aid Room Incorporating its High-Tech Materials (2014)
Bayer Thai collaborated with Square Panel and hand together to build houses using innovative materials for traditional markets and inclusive business initiative for underserved communities. The school’s first aid room was a stand-alone building built by Bayer Thai and Square Panel, using polyurethane foam as an insulating material. The design of the first aid room improves resistance to noise and heat, thus making the room very energy-efficient and comfortable.
Science For Smiling Kids Program (2013-2015)
Bayer Thai organized the activity; Science For Smiling Kids, to help the students realize that science is truly all around them as well as to increase awareness about science and to support science education in remote and impoverish areas. The idea behind this activity was to trigger the school children's interest in science through hands-on experiments. Among various activity booths, the students had the opportunity to experience real science under expert supervision.
Bayer Care for Elephants (2012-2013)
Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. donated cash and leading products for animal health to the Phra Kochabaan Foundation, an elephant foundation in Ayutthaya that is engaged in helping and conserving elephants. The donation of cash and medicine to the Phra Kochabaan Foundation is part of a two-year program "Bayer Cares for Elephants" aimed at promoting the welfare of the Foundation's elephants.
“What’s up with the earth?” Children book (2012 - 2014)
Bayer Thai distributed 35,000 copies of “What’s Up with the Earth?” to Children Foundation for nationwide distribution to children in remote schools. Bayer’s children book in Thai version was also produced with an aim to encourage Thai children to learn more about the causes of climate change and how they can take steps every day to help mitigate the effects of climate change. . Moreover, Bayer Thai also coordinated with Tungmahamek School and Piboon Prachabarn School to support the environmental education for children in Thailand.
Bayer Teacher Voluntary Project (2012)
Bayer Thai had a high concern about the quality of life in the nearby communities. To fulfill this goal, Bayer Teacher Voluntary Project was initiated to encourage the employees to be voluntary teachers in order to support and to leverage the quality of academic in the neighborhood schools.
