Bayer Thai Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, conducted a comprehensive training program for professional nurses, and educated teens about adolescent pregnancy prevention and proper family planning practices from November 29 to 30, 2023, in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai province.
The training conducted by experts from the Department of Health namely Dr. Suraphan Sangsawang, Deputy Director of Regional Health Promotion Center 1 (Chiang Mai), Ms. Suraswadi Wiangsuwan, Expert Registered Nurse and Ms. Pilin Chernthong, Expert Registered Nurse, to 16 professional nurses covered a wide range of topics, including policies for maternal and midwifery nursing, the contraceptive implant, side effects, contraindications, treatment, and various current methods of contraception. Participating nurses also engaged in practical sessions to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Additionally, an educational session focusing on contraception in adolescents and precautions for using emergency contraceptives was conducted to 300 students of Omkoi Wittayakom School, Mathayom 4 and 5. The aim of the outreach was to raise awareness among teens about adolescent pregnancy prevention and proper family planning practices.
This initiative aligns with Bayer's Sustainable Development Goal "Choice for Every One of Them," which seeks to empower women and girls to determine their own future. Bayer is committed to providing access to contraception for 100 million women in low- and middle-income countries by 2030.
